During the festive Computable Awards show on Tuesday 30 October, the DAF Truck Configurator won the 'Digital Innovation of the Year' award! This joint effort (of 7 companies) won by receiving the most votes (828!), as well as from the audience as from an independent jury. For this prize-winning DAF Truck Configurator, ISAAC VR developed the virtual real-time module.
Online Truck Configurator using virtual reality
Using the 3D DAF Truck Configurator, customers can put together their ideal truck online and then also review it in virtual reality. Herewith DAF is paramount when it comes to assembling the ideal truck online. The DAF Truck Configurator shows all available truck variants and options, so 'what you see is what you get'. A unique feature in the truck industry, as for example chassis components can vary almost indefinitely. Reason enough for a group of thirteen Computable experts to nominate this digital innovation for the Computable Awards 2018 in the category 'Digital Innovation of the Year'.
The Computable Awards are not only the most important ICT prizes in the Netherlands, but are also leading in Europe. The awards are handed out to companies, projects and people who have distinguished themselves in the past year with groundbreaking innovations. In the run-up to the award ceremony, companies had the chance to campaign to gain as many public votes as possible. During the festive award show, an independent jury finally appointed the DAF Truck Configurator as the winner.
About DAF Trucks
Trucks. That is what it is all about at DAF. The undisputed market leader of the Dutch truck market produces and develops light, medium and heavy trucks. Characteristic of their strategy is the 'build to order' principle. This means that the production of a truck is only started after an order has been placed. After all, every truck is specially designed for the transport needs of the customer. To make the order process more accessible and to shorten the total turnaround time of the production process, DAF developed the DAF Truck Configurator. ISAAC VR developed a virtual reality module for the configurator, enabling customers in virtual reality to walk around the configured truck, as it were.
